Monster Toolbox Labels and a Spelling FREEBIE

I wanted to share a couple of freebies tonight.  Some of you probably already know I'm obsessed with monsters (not the scary kind!).  My classroom is monster themed and I love all things MONSTER!  I've wanted to make a teacher toolbox ever since Create Teach Share first shared this fantastic idea.  I've seen so many gorgeous teacher created toolboxes on Instagram this summer, I just couldn't resist any longer.  I knew that of course, it was going to have to be monster themed.  I searched far and wide for monster labels and couldn't find any anywhere!!!  Lucky for me, I found this super adorable monster paper on Etsy.
I am sooo excited to get this into my classroom.  I have absolutely no idea where I am going to fit it, but it will have to find a home somewhere in my crowded classroom!

If you have a monster classroom and are interested in these labels, you can click the image below to get them for FREE.

I also wanted to share a spelling printable that I am excited to use this year.  Okay, I'm about to jump from monsters to superheroes.  But, this page is perfect for Mondays when you are introducing new spelling and vocabulary words.  Click either image below to check it out or grab this FREEBIE.

Open House Goodies

It's 12:00am and I can't sleep, so I thought I'd hop on my blog for just a bit.  My back hurts so bad right now I can barely walk, it probably wasn't such a good idea to try the highest incline on my treadmill for the full time.  I was so proud of myself, and now I'm feeling like a dummy, because I'm in total agony!

Aside from hurting myself on the treadmill, I have been working like crazy trying to finish up a few projects.  I'm really excited about this little Open House set of goodies.  It should help eliminate some of my pre-Open House stress.  I'm always scrambling at the last minute, but that WON'T be the case this year.

Here's a peek at what's inside:

The flowers make an adorable display for Open House.  Before putting the flowers together, I love to read aloud the book, Planting A Rainbow by Louis Ehlert.  This is an activity I've done for many years, I'm glad to finally put it together digitally.

This resource also contains a welcome sign that students can color and place on their desks for their parents.

Inside this resource you will also find student information cards.  I love to put them on a ring, so I have them with me on the go.  You just never know when you're going to need them.  There are also little tags that go along with a snack size Mounds bar.  They should make a sweet treat for your students or their parents during Open House.

And don't forget the All About Me page.  Open House just isn't complete without an All About Me activity!

If you are interested in any of these activities, you can check them out by clicking HERE.

As always, the first 3 people to leave a comment will get these goodies for free. PLEASE don't forget to leave your e-mail.  Thanks bunches and I'm off to bed.

Author's Purpose Posters

I'm in the middle of a bathroom remodel, and thought I'd sneak away to my computer for just a bit (it was actually way longer than a bit, hopefully my hubby isn't timing me!)  I was looking through my files and realized that I had totally forgot to share something I had made a few months back.   I created these posters as a cute little visual reminder for my students about Author's Purpose.  Here is what it looks like all put together with some polka dot ribbon.

I have it hanging next to my smart board at the very front of the class.  That's a sure way to be sure it won't be missed. I decided to use ribbon to tie the pages together, so I can easily grab it and take it to the carpet with me for our read alouds.  I also put a clothespin on the side, so we can mark the correct author's purpose for the story we are reading at any given moment.
If you'd like to check it out in my store, simply click HERE.

I also added a new set of desk name plates.  The new set has a notebook paper background.  Both the notebook paper and red versions are available for FREE in my store.  Click the images below to head on over to grab them.

Plenty of Parts of Speech

I can't believe how fast summer is flying by.  While my hubby has been working hard in this Texas heat to build a playground set for Greysen,  I have been inside (where it's cool) working on a few school projects I had for this summer.  I'm trying to get them done sooner rather than later,  because we have a big bathroom remodel we just started that is going to keep me SUPER busy.

I am happy to say, I can cross this project off my list.  I finally uploaded it to TPT and I'm super excited to use it next year.
http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Plenty-of-Parts-of-Speech-1307329
This resource is designed to help students identify the different parts of speech. The cards can be laminated and placed on a (large) ring.  The cards can be used as a quick review throughout the day.  It is also a great way to practice on the go.  You could take them with you and even do a quick practice while waiting in the hallway.  It's a great way to seize a down time and make it a fun instructional moment.

I have been using this idea for years, I just finally decided to make my cards fancy.  Up until now, I have been using handwritten cards written on sentence strips.  When you're putting together the ring, make sure you mix up the cards really well.  Then,  you can turn them over and have a student randomly choose a card.  You could also just pick a card yourself.  The student has to give the correct part of speech.  If they choose a card that has the name of a part of speech, then they must come up with their own word for that part of speech.  If they get it correct, then they write the part of speech on the class game board.  I also usually have a small reward for them like a sticker, stamp, or eraser.

If a person is able to get the 3rd part of speech in a row, Then I usually give that student a larger reward like a pencil, homework pass, etc.  Once the class completes the entire game board, then I generally have a class reward.  I like to do a Go Noodle break for the class reward.  I like to stop and practice several times throughout the day.  They really enjoy playing, and are usually the ones to remind me that it's time to play.  I usually start the year with all the parts of speech on the ring, but you could add them as they are introduced in class.
This review page is also included, so students can refer to it throughout the year.  They  will probably only need to refer to it in the beginning.  They will soon be little parts of speech experts.

If you are interested in this resource, please check it out in my TPT store by clicking HERE or by clicking the image below.
